ICVFX BALI Environment

2023

We created this environment for ICVFX for a collaboration with Canoestudios in NYC, the main purpose was to feature the new capabilitites of Unreal Engine 5.1 and their improvements in lighitng.  The environment was inspired by Bali, indonesia and was used with the purpose of a fashion shooting .

The clips shown here are real-time captures and no render or posproduction was added to it.

- It took about 3.5 weeks from concept to final completion.
- This is a screen recording of the environment running at an average of 80 fps at 4K in a RTX3090. No render or post at all.
- After going through Ndisplay setup the environment performed at about 40 FPS on stage

DESCRIPTION

THE ICVFX SHOTS GUIDE

As we knew that this environment would be used in an LED volume, we found very useful to provide a series of shots in a cinematic style for the director and creatives to see our vision of how to utilize the environments. Using unreal sequencer also provides a really fast way of jump between pre-defined lighitng scenarios.

There were 3 fashion products to be featured during this shooting: Swimwear, Watch and Handbag. Each one of the following clips were the Shot guides for the corresponding product.

Below there is a clip showing the interaction of the project inside Unreal engine, in this it is possible to see how easy is to switch dynamic lighthing scenarios and adjust camera position without losing real-time capabilities.

STAGE IMPLEMENTATION

We implemented the environment in a Virtual production stage in New York called "Car Stage". We during the implementaion we used VPToolKit, an Unreal Engine plugin that is created to facilitate the ICVFX operation on stage. Below are some pictures of the stage and the environment in it.
